James R. Wilkins Winchester Battlefields Visitor Center

Shenandoah Valley Civil War Museum
The Shenandoah Valley Civil War Museum located in downtown Winchester and is housed in the historic Frederick County Courthouse. Built in 1840, it was used as a hospital, a prison, and a barracks during the Civil War. Many prisoners left their names and other graffiti on the walls much of which is still visible today. Third Winchester Battlefield Park contains over 600 acres of preserved battlefield land from the Third Battle of Winchester, over 6 miles of walking trails, and interpretive markers throughout the park. Click below for more information and directions.
Winchester-Frederick County Visitors Center
The Winchester-Frederick County Visitors Center is located at 1400 S Pleasant Valley Rd., Winchester, VA.

Rose Hill Park
Rose Hill Park was the site of heavy fighting during the First Battle of Kernstown. The park is located at 1871 Jones Road, Winchester, VA 22602.
It is operated jointly by Frederick County Parks and Recreation and by the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. A 1.2 mile interpreted walking trail winds through fields and woods and includes a spur trail to a reconstructed section of stone wall. The trail travels through where the First Battle of Kernstown concluded.
